(An Ag field burned Friday evening, and it was not a scheduled burn)….The fire was reported at around 5:30 Friday evening, on Labrucherie Road, South of El Centro.

A twenty-five man County Fire Crew responded to the blaze. The crew watched the fire burn itself out, and kept it from spreading. A crew remained on scene into the night to take care of possible flare-ups. Officials say 70 acres of wheat were destroyed, at a cost of over $84,000. Officials say the fire was started under suspicious circumstance. Sheriff’s investigators arrested an 11-year-old boy. The child lives near the field that burned. He was taken to juvenile hall for questioning. Investigators did not say if the boy is suspected of starting the fire all by himself, or if he was part of a group.
