(Voters go the Polls Tuesday)…Imperial County Clerk, Recorder, Registrar of Voters Dolores Provencio says the Polls open for the June 3 Statewide Direct Primary Election at 7:00 am. The Polls will close at 8:00 pm Tuesday. Voters will cast ballots for state and local candidates, two state initiatives and a Bond Measure “B” for the McCabe School District only. The number of registered voters has increased for this election. Provencio says there are 53, 691 registered voters for the June 3 election, as compared to 53,116 registered to vote in the February 5 election. Despite a reputation for being a conservative County, the overwhelming number of registered voters is Democrats. There are 29,597 registered Democrats, up by 636 from the February election. There are 13,580 registered Republicans, down 114 from February. Provencio says 17,837 Vote by Mail Ballots have been mailed to Permanent Absentee voters, almost 1,000 than were mailed in February. She says 4,455 have been returned as of Friday evening. Provencio says Vote by Mail voters are reminded they must have their ballots into the Election Department by 8:00 pm Election Day. |
