(Victims vehicle found in Mexicali)….Sheriff’s investigative Sergeant Miguel Leon said Friday the vehicle was discovered around mid-afternoon Thursday. Leon said Mexicali authorities made the discovery near the Super Wal Mart store in Mexicali. The Sergeant said investigators were in Mexicali working on returning the vehicle to El Centro. The vehicle was stolen from the house in the 100 block of Danenberg Road Wednesday. A suspect or suspects invaded the home of 82-year-old Elsa Hechanova, and apparently murdered the woman before ransacking her house and stealing her car. Leon said there might be a break in the case. He said there is a possible witness who reportedly saw the person who abandoned the stolen vehicle near the Wal Mart. The Sergeant said investigators would be trying to interview that possible witness. Leon said an autopsy on the dead woman was scheduled for Tuesday. He said a cause of death would hopefully be determined then. Leon did say there were injuries evident on the woman’s body that could have led to her death. But, again, Leon would not go as far as to say the intruder or intruders had beaten the frail 82 year old to death. |
