(Two arrested in connection with haystack fire)….The fire last Friday was south of the Imperial Valley Mall..

It was close to the Imperial Irrigation District substation that provides power to the Mall. The fire burned itself out by Sunday morning without harming the substation. Investigators used security video from the Mall to help identify two suspects. The teenagers were seen on video running to the haystack, and then running back after the fire erupted. The two were also seen on a convenience store video going into the AM/Pm at the Mall, and coming out and getting into a vehicle. The two were tracked to Heber, where one of them was identified. A 15 and a 14 year old were interviewed and reportedly confessed to having started the fire. The boys said they were playing around and lit matches that caught the hay on fire. The loss was estimated at around $125,000
