(Teens going to Mexico had better have permission)….Saturday night Calexico Police will be setting up a Teen Turn Around Operation and a Sobriety Checkpoint.

The Department will not say if the two are separate or if they will be at the same location. A Teen Turn Around Operation is where officers detain vehicles to determine if under-aged border crossers have their parent or guardian permission. If they don’t have it, they will be turned around and sent home. The Department says the Operation and Checkpoint are in accordance with the guidelines for checkpoint operations outlined by the Supreme Court. They say the detection of minors crossing into Mexico and drunk drivers and or drug impaired drivers is a crucial component of the California Traffic Safety Program. Mexicali supports the Teen Turn Around Operations because it reduces teen alcohol abuse and subsequent crime in their city. The Checkpoint will be in operation from 6:00 in the evening until 1:00 in the morning Saturday night.
