(Fugitive Nebraska Teacher found in Mexicali)…The teacher, 25-year-old Kelsey Peterson, allegedly fled Lexington, Nebraska Friday with 13-year-old Fernando Rodriguez.

Peterson was apparently the boy’s sixth grade math teacher. Alfredo Arena of the Baja California State police, says the two did not have a very well defined plan. Arenas, who participated in the capture Saturday, said it appears the two mutually agreed to flee when it was discovered they were having sex with each other. The teacher was returned to Nebraska to face charges of kidnapping, child abuse and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, as well as federal charges of transporting a minor across state lines or a foreign border for sexual activity. The 13-year-old remains with family in Mexicali. It turns out he was in the United States illegally when he fled with the teacher.
