(Suspect in decade old massacre arrested)….In 1998, 19 men, women and children as young as 1 and 2 years of age, were lined up on a patio a shot to death.

It was described as the bloodiest episode of drug violence in Mexican history. The killers were dressed in military garb at the time of the incident. The massacre stemmed from a marijuana trafficking dispute. Three suspects were arrested within months of the September 17 incident. Arrest warrants were issued for several others, including Jesus Ruben Mancada. The 33-year-old Mancada was taken into custody in East Los Angeles late last week. To expedite things, Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents told Mancada he was taken into custody for an immigration violation. The suspect agreed to voluntary deportation. Friday Mancada walked across the border into Mexico, into the waiting Mexican Police officers and soldiers. His arrest was a joint operation between ICE and the U.S. Marshall’s Service. Mexican officials say Mancada was a member of the Arrellano-Felix Cartel, and was one of the gunmen in the 1998 massacre.
