(Supervisors and Imperial Irrigation District Directors discuss same topic, different conclusions)….The IID Directors Tuesday said they felt a recent accusation from the California Public Utility Commission favored them.

The CPUC recently accused San Diego Gas & Electric gave false information to the Commission. S D G & E reportedly said the southern route for their proposed Sunrise Power link would go through Tribal Lands. The information was part of an explanation as to why the San Diego utility preferred a Northern route for the $1.5 Billion project. IID favors the southern route. The County Board of Supervisors also discussed the C P U C allegation on Tuesday. They said they were inclined to believe San Diego’s response to the allegation. The Supervisors say there is no reason to believe the incident was a misunderstanding. The Supervisors said they strongly suspect the C P U C does not favor any route, and they say that is a major concern. The Board said the Sunrise Project needs to be approved to transmit renewable energy from Imperial County. They said there is an abundance of renewable energy and a transmission line must be constructed to export it to the rest of the State. The Commission has indicated they would rule on the allegation Friday.
