(Out-going Fire Chief honored)….The County Board of Supervisors recognized and honored Chief Fred Nippins.

The Chief is retiring this week after 17 years with the County. A handful of County Firefighters and others in attendance Tuesday gave Nippins a standing ovation. The audience remained standing throughout the ceremony at the Board of Supervisors meeting. Board Chairman Gary Wyatt gave Nippins a plaque in recognition of his service to the County. Nippins said the County had come a long way. He said his time with the fire department took a lot of hard work and dedication and he was proud of his tenure, but it was time to be with his grandchildren. Nippins last day on the job will be Thursday. His retirement dinner will be Saturday. Tony Rouhoutas takes over as the new County Fire Chief upon Nippins retirement.
