(The elections are not over, yet)….Tuesday the County Board of Supervisors accepted the certified election results of the October 30 Bard Water District Landowner Election, and they Declared appointed the unopposed candidates who filed declarations of candidacy for the November 6 Consolidated District Election that included the Districts of Bombay Beach Community Services, Niland Sanitary, Seeley Water, Winterhaven Fire, and Palo Verde County Water District. However, five other seats need to be filled. Registrar of Voters Dolores Provincio told the Board Tuesday they had to appoint somebody to the seats nobody applied for and were not filled any other way during the November 6 election. They include the short-term seat for the Heber Public Utility District, two full term seats in the Niland Fire District, one full term seat in the Niland Sanitary District and one full term seat in the Winterhaven Fire District. Provincio said each corresponding Supervisor had to come up with names of people to appoint to the positions before December 7. If the Supervisors cannot find volunteers to serve in the leftover positions, Provincio said they may need to call a special election to fill the seats. |
