(County does not want the Governor borrowing from approved propositions)….The County Board of Supervisors said Tuesday there is discussion of balancing the state budget with funds from Propositions 1A and 42.

Bob Ham, Intergovernmental Relations Director, told the Board if the plan were to be implemented, approved projects would be canceled. For Imperial County that would mean funding for the Brawley By-Pass and other projects would disappear. Ham said other Counties are already holding Un-Groundbreaking Ceremonies to protest the plan. The local Board agreed to send letters to Assemblywoman Bonnie Garcia and State Senator Denise Moreno Ducheny asking that they not support the plan. The letter says, in essence, that the voters approved Proposition 42, a gas tax, to pay for needed projects, with over 70 percent of the vote, and it is time legislators respected the will of their constituents.
