(Suarez family does not sway Judge)….Convicted child molester Gustavo Suarez was sentenced Monday to 22 years in Prison.

The 65-year-old Suarez was convicted in may of 7 counts of child molestation of minor children younger than 14 years of age. The violations reportedly occurred at the Rainbow Family Day Care operated by Suarez’s wife in El Centro. Sentencing had been rescheduled from last week. Before pronouncing sentence, Imperial County Superior Court Judge Donal Donnelly heard from Suarez family and friends, who continued to contend Suarez was falsely accused. Ofelia Suarez asked that the person who falsely accused her husband to speak up. The Judge also heard from the parents of two of the victims. They asked that Suarez be sentenced to the maximum sentence possible, describing him as despicable. With 22 year sentence it is almost certain Suarez will spend the rest of his life in prison. Defense attorneys say they will appeal the conviction.
