(In-coming Fire Chief updates the Supervisors)…..The update was actually a clarification Tuesday. Tony Rohoutas said the County has sent 2 engines to help in the Telegraph Fire in Mariposa County. He said each engine has a crew of 8 fire fighters. A third engine, from Yuma Fire, was also sent as part of the strike team. The 2 Imperial County engines came from El Centro and the County Department. Rohoutas said the local team has been assigned to structural protection and they can expect to be on scene for about two weeks. New personnel will be rotated into the strike team. He said there are currently 3,500 firefighters assigned to the Mariposa County fire. Rohoutas takes over as County Fire Chief once Fred Nippins retires in mid August.
