(Possible disaster averted at Warne Field)….On September 24 a serious theft was reported at the Football field. Lt. Bret Houser said somebody had stolen the support beams from the bleachers. The Lt. said the bleachers could have collapsed with any sized crowd. Saturday, Brawley police arrested a suspect in the incident. Houser says David Gonzalez, a Brawley resident, was found with the support beams in his possession. Gonzalez was arrested and booked into County Jail. He was charged with possession of stolen property. The bleachers will reportedly be ready for the next Wildcat home game.
