(Asian Citrus Psyllid to be discussed)…The California Department of Food and Agriculture will host the meetings.

They will be held in San Diego and Imperial Counties, near areas affected by the infestation of the Psyllid. Food and Agriculture has declared quarantine areas infested by the destructive pest. The psyllid caused significant damage to the Florida Citrus Crop. The pest turned up in San Diego County, and then moved into Imperial County. The Local Ag Commissioner Steve Birdsall has said it is not believed the pest has infested commercial citrus crops in Imperial County, but it has been detected in residential citrus trees. State Food and Agriculture will conduct two public meetings on the psyllid in Imperial County on Wednesday. The first will be at the Ocotillo Community Center from 10:00 am to noon. A second meeting will be held at the Seeley Elementary School from 4:00 to 6:00 pm. Thursday and Monday meetings will be held in San Diego and El Cajon.
