(New Solar Generation System recognized)…. A ceremony was held Monday to recognize the completion of the Solar Power Generation System at Pioneers Memorial Hospital.

Aleta Shropshire, president of the Pioneers Memorial Hospital Health District, said the District was very grateful for being selected for this renewable energy project. Imperial Irrigation District officials were on hand to help P M H D celebrate the completion of the new photovoltaic solar power generation system. The new system is expected to generate more than 100 kilowatts of clean, renewable energy. Located behind the Hospital on Legion Road, the system is comprised of an array of 630 silicon panels strategically placed to collect the sun’s rays. In 2007, the Imperial Irrigation District Directors approved $1 million for two community demonstration projects such as the one at the Brawley hospital.
