(Skywest has given its 90-day notice)….The Utah based carrier has submitted its intent to the U.S. Department of Transportation. The letter of intent was submitted on October 3. Any objections to the plan can be filed with the Department of Transportation. Imperial County Airport Manager Steve Birdsall says in an e-mail that he understands SkyWest cannot leave the market until they find a replacement for their routes. Birdsall says the process is that they will stay in the market for 90 days. During that time, they will publish an RFP for bids to fly the route subsidized. No reason has been given for SkyWest’s decision to leave Imperial County Airport. |
