(Busy intersection may soon have signal lights)….Public Works Director William Brunet told the Board of Supervisors Tuesday that the deal had been signed.

The County and CalTrans signed the agreement to construct the signal lights at the intersection of Highway 111 and McCabe Road. They have been waiting since the creation of the Imperial Valley Mall. McCabe Road was originally designated as a main artery to the Mall from Calexico. Brunet said since then half of the $2 million the County had set aside for the project has been used elsewhere. He said he would be coming back to the Board for permission to transfer funds to ensure money is available. The Public Works Director anticipated the project would go out to bid within 60 to 90 days. He said construction would take about six months, with completion possibly by May 2009.
