Salton City man charged with molesting a juvenile

(A 51-year-old Salton City man arrested Saturday.)…Lt. George Moreno of the County Sheriff’s Department says Gabriel Mendoza Vargas was taken into custody. He is being charged with lewd and lascivious acts with a juvenile. Moreno would not go into much detail, saying he did not want to compromise an on-going investigation. He did say it is being alleged the molestation has been going on for the past year. Deputies arrested the suspect at his residence on Diamond Avenue in Salton City at just before 8:00 pm Saturday. He was booked into County Jail. His bail was set at $150,000.
