(A 30 year old Salinas woman is arrested Tuesday, and her accomplice is taken into custody Wednesday)…..Calexico Police Sergeant Gonzalo Gerardo says the woman, Yesenia Nava, reportedly tried to cash a bogus check at the Food For Less Market in Calexico.

Gerardo says the check was for $587, and allegedly from the Department of Social Services. The Sergeant says the check appeared extremely suspicious. He said two Calexico Police Officers were in the Market at the time. The store manager presented the check to the Officers, and they agreed the check was probably a second-generation copy of a state check. Gerardo says as the officers went to place Nava under arrest, a man who was with her slipped out the front door of the Market and disappeared into the parking lot. The Sergeant says the Officers returned to the store Wednesday to review video of the arrest. As they did, the man who fled returned to the Market. He was recognized and placed under arrest, as well. Gerardo says the man was identified as Roy Juarez from Salinas. He said the suspect was a parolee in Salinas, and apparently left the area without advising his parole officer. Juarez was booked into County Jail and charged with a multitude of counts, include the parole violation, conspiracy, Commercial burglary, creating a ficticous check, passing a bogus check etc.
