(Slain Border Patrol Agent to get road named in his honor)….The County Board of Supervisors agreed Tuesday to allow a county road to be named after Luis Aguilar. The Bureau of Land Management came up with the idea, and asked the Supervisors for permission. A road in the Buttercup Valley, near where he was killed. A suspected smuggler ran over the agent as he laid down a spike strip in January. The suspect swerved to avoid the strip and ran over the 32-year-old agent. The suspect, driving a Hummer, fled back into Mexico. He was apprehended by Mexican authorities, but turned loose after U.S. Authorities failed to seek extradition. The BLM plans to dedicate the road Saturday. |
