(Years of planning and months of construction come to an end Friday)…..The Imperial Irrigation District will host Dedication ceremonies for the Niland Gas Turbines Plant.

The District says the natural gas fired, combined cycled unit will generate 90 megawatts of energy and help boost their reliability. The Niland Plant is the first power plant constructed by the IID in 30 years. Officials say the Ceremony Friday will mark the significant contribution of the Niland Gas Turbines Plant to the future of the region. The Ribbon-cutting Ceremony will be held from 8:00 to 9:00 Friday morning at the Plant site on Beal Road in Niland. Guided tours of the generating facility will follow the ceremony.
