(Reverse 911 coming to Imperial County)….The system was used in San Diego during the recent fires. The Reverse 911 system is a quick way to evacuate residents in case of emergency. Tuesday the County Board of Supervisors will discuss the system and it will be demonstrated in the afternoon. Numbers for the system are obtained through local telephone directories and participants submit their cell phone numbers. When a disaster hits and residents need to be evacuated, the system automatically dials the numbers and notifies the residents of the affected area. The Supervisors meeting begins at 8:30 Tuesday morning. The demonstration will begin at 1:00 in the afternoon in the County Administration Center, conference room C & D, on the second floor. |
