(County receives grant to help reduce diesel emissions)….The grant comes from the Goods Movement Emission Reduction Program under Proposition 1B.

The Federal Program allots $1 billion over a three-year period to various corridors. Imperial County falls under the San Diego corridor. Brad Poiriez, Air Pollution Control Officer, told the County Board of Supervisors Tuesday a $3.7 million grant has been approved for the local Air Pollution Control District. The Supervisors agreed to hire a specialist to manage the grant funds and to open a special account for the program. The A P C D will begin accepting applications to retrofit and reduce emissions from heavy-duty diesel trucks. Poiriez said he expects about 250 grants will be approved through the program.
