(The Political Season is underway)…The airwaves will soon be full of candidate commercials. The best way to determine what a candidate has to offer is by asking them face-to-face.

That opportunity starts in early October for those participating in the November 6th election. Brawley and El Centro have scheduled political forums to allow voters in their communities to meet and questions their candidates. In Brawley, the American Citizens club will host their forum on October 4th at 6:30 pm. The forum will be held at 890 B Street. Invited to attend the Brawley forum are the candidates for City Council; incumbents Don Campbell and Toni Carrillo, along with Mason Ettinger, Wayne Johnson, Ryan Kelley, George Nava and Lee Quarcelino, Sr.. The candidates for City Treasurer, Jim Hamilton and R.C. Valenzuela, have also been invited, as well as those running for the Brawley Elementary School Board and the Imperial Valley College Board of Trustees. In El Centro, the Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau will host a debate on October 9th. That debate will be held at Condit Auditorium on Broadway beginning at 6:30 pm. Debating will be the City Council Candidates; Incumbents Jon Edney and Sedalia Sanders, and Jon Willis, Jason Jackson and Efrain Silva. The public will submit questions to the participants. The debate will be recorded and re-broadcast on K X O AM and K X O FM radio stations.
