One El Centro man injured, another arrested for Felony DUI

(El Centro man arrested for felony drunk driving)….El Centro Police Sergeant Jeff Mason says officers responded to a reported collision Thursday evening, at the intersection of Adams Avenue and Imperial Avenue. The incident was reported at 5:00 pm. Mason says officers determined that a truck traveling south on Imperial had failed to stop for a red light. The truck, driven by 54 year old William Mayes, collided with a van being driven east on Adams by 57 year old Glenn Neumann of El Centro. Neumann suffered neck and chest injuries. He was taken to El Centro Regional Medical Center for treatment. He was later released from the hospital. The Sergeant says Mayes exhibited signs of intoxication. He was arrested and booked into County Jail for driving under the influence of alcohol causing injury. Mason said his blood alcohol level was measured at .16%, twice the state’s legal limit. Mayes remains in custody with bail set at $50,000.
