(Camp fire causes weekend brush fire)…The fire started Saturday near Bombay Beach. Fire Fighters thought they had extinguished the brush fire then, but it rekindled on Sunday. Crews from Brawley, Niland and Riverside County were able to control the fire before it threatened any structures. The Bureau of Land Management say they arrested 3 out of County men who were camping in the area. The B L M says 51 year Jeffery Drew Boatman from Anaheim, 46-year-old Phillip Lynn Buffington of Chino Hills and 52-year-old Randall Scott Lambert of Yorba Linda had been camping near Bombay Beach and their campfire got out of hand. The men were not able to control the campfire and it spread to the nearby brush. All three suspects were arrested, and all three posted $20,000 bail and were released. |
