(American Sand Association to discuss their next move in August)…The A S A has called a meeting for August 9 to discuss the recent decision by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

The decision this week was to keep the Peirson’s Milk Vetch plant on the Threatened List. The Association says they had thought that they had submitted enough scientific evidence to Fish and Wildlife to prove the plant was not threatened. The A S A science submitted indicates the plant is not only not threatened; it flourishes in the desert during wet years. They say it is the dry climate that hurts the weed, not off road vehicle. The milk vetch is only found in the desert near Algodonez and south into Mexico. Environmentailsts have demanded thousands of acres of public land be removed from public access to allow the plant to grow freely.
