(Security is expected to be tight at Anniversary celebration)…The Local Narcotics Task Force is getting ready to celebrate its 35th Anniversary. The celebration will be held Friday at the Eagles Lodge in El Centro. The party starts at 6:00 pm. Among the special guests will be Ernie Halcon, Commander of the Task Force in 1978. Halcon began his career in law enforcement in 1958. Other current and past members of the NTF are expected to be on hand, along with political representatives and other dignitaries from around the County and possibly the State. Commander Mike Lloyd says the local Task Force is the oldest in the State of California, and possibly the nation. The NTF began in 1973. It was formed by officers from Law Enforcement Departments around the Valley. It now includes state and federal officers, as well. |
