(Baja Tomato growers suffering from bad rap)….Tomato growers in Baja California are claiming the bad publicity from the salmonella contamination in some U.S. Tomatoes is hurting their market.

Growers in San Quintin, near Rosarito, say their crops have been tested by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration as well as its Mexican counterpart, and they have found nothing. They say the tests have concluded the Baja California tomatoes are safe for consumption. The F D A has reportedly still not been able to find the origin of the contaminated tomatoes that have sickened some people. At least one death is being attributed to the consumption of salmonella contaminated tomatoes. The Baja growers are saying they do not know where the bad tomatoes are coming from, but they are pretty sure it is not from their crops. Some restaurants, including McDonalds have stopped serving fresh tomatoes until the F D A can clear up the problem.
