No candidate gets Union endorsement

(No Endorsements for any of the School Board Candidates, yet)….Six Candidates seeking two seats on the Calexico School Board of Trustees attended the forum Thursday evening. The forum was hosted by the Associated Calexico Teachers and the Calexico chapter of the California School Employees Association, and was held at the Senior Center in Calexico. Attending the event was incumbent Enrique Alvarado and Candidates Walter Cress, Ruben De La Rosa, Ruth Duarte, Esther Gomez and Gloria Romo. Francisco Cardenas was unable to attend for health reasons. A union official said it may have been too early in the process to consider endorsing any of the Candidates for the November election. He said the candidates were all very cautious. None would offer any solutions to the Districts current financial situation. The District Board is facing a $2.3 million deficit and has laid off several employees, including teachers in an effort to save money.
