(County has a new Film Commissioner)….Suzy Carrillo introduced the new, full time Commissioner to the Board of Supervisors Tuesday. Carrillo has voluntarily led the commission for several years. She told the Supervisors this is the first time they have been able to afford a paid Film Commissioner. Charla Teeters is from Brawley. She was hired by the Joint Chamber of Commerce. She told the Board 30 percent of her job would be with the United Desert Gateway and 70 percent of her responsibilities are with the Film Commission. The Commission markets Imperial County to attract production companies to film here. Jarhead and Three Kings are a couple of major release films made mostly in Imperial County. Carrillo said commercials, Documentaries, Video Game backgrounds and music videos have all been filmed in the County as a result of the commission’s efforts. She said the commission is currently working on bringing the Cities of Brawley and Calexico into commission participation. |
