Murder suspect arrested in Mexicali

(Suspect in murder of Calexico man arrested)….Mexicali Law Enforcement officials say 32 year old Fernando Correa Angel was shot to death on April 11. The tragedy occurred just outside of Mexicali. The body was found in a canal. This week officials say they took 52 year old Bernardo Silva Morales into custody. Police investigating the murder say the Calexico man rode up to a house near where the suspect lived. The victim had reportedly gone to visit a girlfriend. He was with another friend. The suspect reportedly thought Correa was a local criminal, and when he saw him arguing with the woman, the suspect came out of his home carrying a rifle and shot the 32 year old. Silva Morales reportedly forced the victim’s friend assist him in dumping the body into a nearby canal. The suspect was reportedly booked into the City Jail and charged with murder. The friend’s identity was not released.
