More pink slips for Calexico School employees

(Calexico School Board continues to approve pink slips)….The School Board held a special meeting Monday night. During the meeting the Board approved a motion to lay-off 19 teacher-aides. The Board also approved laying-off one Computer Tech. The Elementary School Library Technicians were spared. There had been a plan to possibly reduce the hours for the Library Techs, or possibly lay them off, as well. The Board took no action. The California School Employees Association Chapter 399 officials say a reduction of hours would have been a negotiation issue. The School Board is trying to bring their budget under control by addressing their own anticipated short-fall, as well as anticipated cuts in State funding.
