(Body of missing man recovered)…The County Sheriff’s Department says 60-year-old Lawrence McClellan was reported missing August 16. McClellan had reportedly gone scrapping with another man. The two were separated, and the other man never saw McClellan again. The two were residents of the Niland Slabs. Scrapping is the gathering of scrap metal, mostly on the Bombing Range near the Slabs. North County Sheriff Deputies were out scouring the Range Tuesday when they found the missing man’s body. Deputy Coroner Tommy Garcia said the body was discovered at around 12:00 noon. He said it was in an advance state of decomposition. An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death. |
