Mexico increases diesel fuel price, again PDF Print E-mail

(Diesel fuel prices going up in Mexicali, again)…This week’s increase is the third this year.

The price for Diesel now stands at 6 pesos and ten centavos per liter. Officials with Petroleos Mexicanos, or PEMEX, say the increase in price is due to demand. They are blaming the demand, at least in part, on smugglers. They are claiming large amounts of diesel fuel are being smuggled across the border and sold in the United States. The last price increase was August 8. At that time the price went up one centavo, to 6 pesos per liter. PEMEX officials say even after the increase, Mexican diesel fuel is still probably the cheapest in the world.
