(A Mexicali man and woman collide)….The 32-year-old woman suffered moderate injuries, and was transported to UCSD Medical Center in San Diego. The California Highway Patrol says the incident occurred at 3:25 Tuesday afternoon. The woman, identified as F Pacheco, was driving a Nissan East on Interstate 8, approaching Highway 7 near Holtville. The 37 year old, identified as G Contreras, was driving a 1979 Kenworth southbound on Highway 7. For undetermined reasons, the Nissan drove into the path of the big rig. Contreras told the Highway Patrol he saw the Nissan and he applied his brakes, but could not stop. The truck hit the left side of the sedan. The impact caused the Nissan to spin out of control and travel in an easterly direction down a dirt embankment, rolling at least once. The vehicle came to rest on its wheels facing an easterly direction, next to a vegetable field, east of Highway 7 and south of the Interstate. Contreras was not injured. |
