Mexicali Man Has Cocaine At Border

A 53-year old Mexicali man was arrested Wednesday afternoon when U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers found cocaine in his car. The man attempted to cross at the Calexico east port of entry at about 2:30 Wednesday afternoon. He was directed to secondary inspection after a detector dog alerted to the SUV he was driving during a pre-primary inspection operation. 29 wrapped packages were discovered in a specially built compartment in the gas tank.The packages contained cocaine weighing 76 pounds. Value of the narcotics was said to be over $600,000. The drugs and the SUV were confiscated by CBP.
