(Thieves stoop to new low)….Last month thieves were arrested stealing metal vases from the Mountain View Cemetery in Calexico.

This week thieves stole from a church. El Centro Police say sometime Monday night somebody took the brass bell from the First United Methodist Church on South 8 Street. Investigators suspect at least two thieves were involved. The bell was on display outside the church at the time of the theft. The 3-foot bell had been salvaged from a fire that had destroyed the church in 1962. The bell had been on display on a concrete block for the past 30 years. There are reports of witnesses seeing two suspects in the area Monday. Police say the thieves may have taken to bell to Mexicali.
