KXO RADIO - Mervyns in Calexico to host a Childs Spree Saturday

(The Pre-Grand opening may be bigger than the Grand Opening)….After years in El Centro, Mervyns is opening a brand new store in Calexico, at 1407 North Imperial Avenue. The Grand Opening for the store is next week. The Pre-Grand Opening, however, is Saturday. The first shoppers at the new store Saturday will be about 100 children, and they will be shopping for free. Calexico Firefighters and Police Officers will accompany the kids in the “Child Spree” that begins at 7:00 Saturday morning. Each child will be given a $100 gift card to spend during the shopping spree. The ribbon cutting for the new store will also be held Saturday, with participating Chamber of Commerce members and other local dignitaries. The local Fire department will have and engine and other fire equipment on display. The Police Department will also have a display, and they will be fingerprinting children. McGruff the crime-fighting dog will be at the event, along with the Calexico High School marching band, along with the Bulldog cheerleaders. The public is encouraged to attend the festivities.
