| After trailing challenger Michael Cox early this morning , incumbant Imperial Irrigation District Division 4 Director Stella Mendoza now leads the race by nearly 500 votes. The Unofficial Final Summary Report released at 1:09 this afternoon shows that Mendoza has gone from nearly 400 votes behind Cox to now holding a 500 vote advantage. The latest numbers are based on returns from all 97 precincts that were able to vote in the Districtwide race. Mendoza has 13,756 votes and Cox has 13,262. Mendoza has the slight edge with 50.91% of the vote to Cox's 49.09% There were several changes in the number of votes in other races but no changes in the winners. There are still provisional, contested and absentee ballots to be counted.Voter turnout in Imperial County was just under 51%. |
