(9/11 Memorials planned)….In Calexico, services will be held Thursday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. The services will be for all those who perished in the September 11 terrorist attack on the World Trade Center. The service starts at 7:00 am. The church is located at 101 East Fourth Street in Calexico. The Yuma Fire Department will continue a tradition started in 2001. Fire Engineer Paul Evancho and his daughter Brittany started the tradition of placing flags on the lawn of Station 2 on South Avenue “A”. There will be 343 flags on the lawn, one for each Firefighter who perished when the World Trade Center Collapsed. The flags will remain in place until Friday morning. Also, a moment of silence is being observed throughout the city at 9:59 am. The attacks on the World Trade Center occurred at 9:59 New York time. |
