Imperial County is looking for volunteers to join the local Medical Reserve Corp and become part of a response team that would assist in a disaster. Once a disaster strikes it's too late to prepare so Imperial County health care professionals are looking for volunteers interested in being part of a local Medical Reserve Corp. According to Rick Goldsberry at Pioneers Memorial Hospital, a variety of help is needed in a disaster , from clerical to medical. Goldsberry told KXO News, " We want to get people of all kinds of skills involved, not just health care fields." Goldsberry said that volunteers would be helping their communities in times of need. He added that the Medical Reserve Corp is a national program through Americorp and would provide the means to best utilize a communities assets. A training session is scheduled for Thursday July 31, 2008 at 5:30 PM at Pioneers Memorial Hispital for those who might be interested in the program. Questions can be directed to Rick Goldsberry at 760 - 351 - 4610.
