Man sufferes fatal injuries

(72-year-old El Centro man killed in single vehicle rollover)….The incident occurred at around 7:30 Friday night near Winterhaven. Jose Garcia Ponce was driving East on Interstate 8, near Seminole Road. The vehicle reportedly drifted into the center median, went out of control, and rolled. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Four passengers in the vehicle were transported to Yuma Regional Medical center for treatment of various injuries. Deputy Coroner Eric Frazier says an autopsy is pending to determine the exact cause of death. An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the accident. Family members, however, say they believe the 72-year-old driver probably fell asleep at the wheel.
