(A man is found stranded in a canyon)….An investigators with the San Diego County Medical Examiners office found the man Thursday.

Mark Malamatos was reportedly flying over Carrizo Gorge looking for a body. Fire fighters combating a brush fire reported spotting the body earlier. In his search, Malamatos spotted brush moving in the canyon. Further investigation determined a 40-year-old man, barely conscious, was lying at the bottom of the 500-foot canyon. Despite the thunderstorms, a rescue helicopter was called in. The helicopter air lifted Ruben Gonzalez out of the canyon and transported him to a nearby hospital. Gonzalez was severely dehydrated and was unable to walk on his own. Officials did not say what the man was doing in the canyon or how he got there.
