The El Centro Fire Department received a request for assistance this morning at 8:45 a.m. from the Imperial County Fire Department - A hay barn on West Evan Hewes just North of I-8 is burning out of control - the fire escalated to 3rd Alarm within ten minutes of the call. A request for an additional support team from the San Diego Red Cross to compliment local Red Cross volunteers has been made as this fire is expected to burn through tomorrow according to Battalion Chief Romero. All local Fire Stations are currently on scene - Imperial County, Calexico, Brawley, Holtville, Naval Air Facility, El Centro and One State Prison. Araceli Gaines Roland Pritchard, and Brad Mellow from the Imperial Valley Red Cross service center are currently on the scene in support. . Stay tuned to KXO Radio AM1230 for updates on the fire.
