(County Library System is downsizing)….County Librarian Connie Barrington says the downsizing reflects reduced revenue.

County Executive Officer Ralph Cordova told the Board of Supervisors Tuesday that the cutbacks are a three-year plan. Cordova said the plan was developed to allow the Library system to survive during the current economic downturn. He said predictions are that the economy will not rebound for about two years. The planned reduction will go into effect as soon as possible. The Supervisors were not happy with the news, but agreed the branches most affected are those least used by the public. They adjusted the plan slightly. It was agreed the Heber Branch would be closed most of the year, but it would reopen for the summer to allow local access from the youth and adults, alike.
