(El Centro police looking for two impersonators)….El Centro Police Sergeant Jeff Mason says the suspects struck twice.

The first incident was reported Friday. At around 7:00 pm two Hispanic males went to a home on South 4th Street. Mason says they identified themselves as law enforcement and demanded entry. The resident reportedly spoke to the two through the front window and refused to open the door. The Homeowner saw both men wearing holstered guns. He asked for identification. When they hesitated, the homeowner called El Centro Police dispatch. While he was on the phone, the two left in a grey or silver Chevrolet. Mason says Sunday at 3:00 am two Hispanic males knocked on a door on South 3rd Street. They identified themselves as agents with the Federal Bureau of Investigations. This time the resident opened the front door. The two impersonators entered the home and held the man at gunpoint. They demanded to know where the resident kept his money. They made off with an undetermined amount of cash. The Sergeant says one of the suspects wore a bandana over his face and the other covered his face with his shirt to conceal their identity. Mason says investigators would like any information the public may have concerning the imposters. The public is urged to call El Centro Police at 352-2113. The Sergeant says police do wear civilian clothes, but their identification is normally visible, and produced upon request. He says their identity can easily be confirmed with a call to the Police dispatch center.
