(Mervyn’s is closing its doors)…..Mervyn’s is one of the most popular stores in Calexico and El Centro. That is apparently not the case nationwide. Corporate Officials have announced they will be closing the doors for all 170 Mervyn’s stores across the Country. The company says they cannot get out of debt, despite have filed for Bankruptcy not long ago. They say they will be holding large Holiday Sales in an attempt to pay off as many creditors as possible, before they close their doors forever. They did not say when their employees would be let go. In Imperial County, over 100 people will lose their jobs at the two stores. |
