(Cano trial could begin in August)…A Superior Court Judge recently scheduled the next court appearance for Kym Cano for July 14. Cano is accused of shooting her husband to death in December, 2006. Frank Cano Jr. was a California Highway Patrol officer who had just been assigned to the El Centro sector at the time of his death. The couple lived in Calexico with their children. Investigators contend a domestic dispute ended with Kym Cano shooting her husband with his service revolver. The defense contends the shooting was an unfortunate accident. Several delays have caused the process to drag out. The latest delay was to allow both the prosecutors and the defense attorney to but their cases together. They say they must be prepared because once the preliminary trial process begins, they will have 60 days before the actual trial.
